Educational and Psychoeducational Evaluations

Educational Evaluations & Diagnostic Assessments

BPEC provides comprehensive educational and diagnostic evaluations for students from Pre-K through adulthood. Evaluations are conducted by a certified Learning Disabilities Teacher-Consultant and/or School Psychologist to better understand each student’s learning profile, academic needs, and areas requiring support.

Evaluations may address:

  • Learning disabilities

  • Academic strengths and challenges

  • Reading, writing, and math difficulties

  • Attention and executive functioning concerns

  • Educational needs and support recommendations

Families receive a detailed written report and participate in a follow-up meeting to review findings, recommendations, and next steps.

Consultation
Services

BPEC provides consultation services to help families better understand learning challenges, school concerns, and available educational supports. Through collaborative guidance and review of educational records, families gain clarity regarding interventions, recommendations, and next steps.

Consultation services may include:

  • Review of educational records and prior testing

  • Guidance regarding school-related concerns

  • Academic intervention recommendations

  • Assistance understanding evaluations and reports

  • Support navigating the New Jersey special education process

  • Parent guidance and advocacy support

Program Recommendations

Following comprehensive testing and review of educational history and records, BPEC provides individualized recommendations tailored to each student’s unique learning profile and educational needs.

Recommendations may include:

  • Academic accommodations

  • Specialized instruction recommendations

  • Reading and math interventions

  • Executive functioning supports

  • School-based services and supports

  • Guidance regarding IEPs and 504 Plans

  • Referrals to additional educational or therapeutic resources

Families are also provided with guidance regarding the New Jersey Special Education Code and the special education process.

At Best Practice Educational Consulting LLC, families receive compassionate, individualized educational support from an experienced New Jersey Learning Disabilities Teacher-Consultant. Services include comprehensive educational evaluations and consultation for students ranging from Pre-Kindergarten through adulthood.

Nationally Certified Educational Diagnostician

Theresa Avella is an experienced Learning Disabilities Teacher-Consultant with more than 25 years of experience working with students and families throughout the New Jersey public school system. Her professional background includes serving as a Case Manager, Child Study Team Member, Educational Evaluator, and I&RS Team Member.

Theresa specializes in comprehensive educational evaluations designed to identify learning strengths, academic challenges, and individualized educational needs while providing thoughtful recommendations to support student success.

Her certifications include:

  • Nationally Certified Educational Diagnostician (#0931)

  • New Jersey Certified Learning Disabilities Teacher-Consultant

  • New Jersey Certified Regular Education Teacher

  • New Jersey Certified Special Education Teacher

Theresa earned her Master’s Degree in Education and Learning Disabilities from William Paterson University and has extensive experience supporting students in reading, mathematics, executive functioning, and academic skill development through individualized educational strategies and collaboration with families and school teams.

Dr. Glassman is a NJ Licensed Psychologist and American Board School Neuropsychologist who specializes in conducting school neuropsychological and psychological assessments for children, adolescents, and adults.
Areas of evaluation and treatment include ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), emotional issues, and various learning disabilities.
